Dude, Linus is just making up the argument for Luke and ignoring what Luke says. Luke won
Please make this a recurring thing. It's interesting to hear the arguments and also kind of amusing to watch The Strain on your friendship
I think the point system for this should be based on how well can you convience the average end user of your case. Great segment tho.
I like the idea of this segment... but honestly I don't like that both Linus and Luke start off by half-assing their defenses. I know some of these are hard to defend topics, but Linus' first defense for Samsung being "we know what the user wants because they bought our phone"... come on, you can be more realistic than that
I’ve always thought Linus was cool, but this segment really made me hate Linus. He was being so unreasonable and Luke was making good points.
Linus is defending add-block :D
Oh, boy! Luke won!
It took a while but he won.
'that's not part of the debate so that's ok' lol
Funniest part Linus admitting his phone runs his life. SAD.
I have mine on during work hours and that is it.
Love the new game! is awesome!
I think Luke won the Twitter argument, tbh. It’s very similar to the arguments over whether social media companies should be allowed to engage in moderation, or if moderation amounts to censorship (some states are moving to ban moderation by social media platforms IIRC). You can make compelling arguments about supporting free speech on the internet, but at the end of the day, there’s a fundamental right to control of your digital infrastructure. If I own a server, I do not have to store your data there if I don’t want to, and I don’t need to serve it to you on request if I don’t want to. Forcing someone to support a third party service or allow posts on their site is forcing them to provide another person or company with access to a computer. Imagine mandating someone have access to your personal computer, even if only via a limited API. Twitter is shitty for the move, but Luke makes compelling points that it may be a net positive for the business in the world where they have tanked their relationship with advertisers and a marginal increase in ad-friendliness (by driving all users through the main app) could have more value than the pr support of the small group of users who exclusively use 3rd party experiences.
This is great, you can see the frustration it oozes of my screen.
Good segment, I think someone needs to clearly define: the issue in dispute (is samsung right in defending their patent, or is samsung defending their patent going to have a positive commercial influence on their brand). then the defending party needs to list clearly their arguments as a summary at the end.
perhaps they can read the topics beforehand and make arguments for and against?
Ok I’m loving this please do more for the main channel
Bullshit, I looked up a how to repair guide for replacing a phone screen and with the right tools such as a heat-gun and spudgers the disassembly of the galaxy device was extremely straightforward and easy to do. Once the screen was removed it was not difficult to plug the new one In and fortunately the replacement had pre applied adhesive strips so sticking it on was relatively painless after I cleaned the old adhesive off. The replacement screen has had no noticeable defects and to this day the repaired device functions excellently. The part I purchased was an OLED screen assembly which came excellently packed and free from damage and much like most delicate PC components seemed to be engineered in a way that would make it difficult to accidentally damage and most people who would be buying these components would be people who had enough common sense to handle the component in a delicate manner as to prevent damage during the repair process.
This was awesome. It can use some more finetuning. Id say try to refrain from 'that's not an argument' counter-statements. To make it more fun, the one that defends the public opinion should also need to deal with responding to terrible arguments with actual arguments instead of hooking into the 'everyone actually agrees with me' angle too much.
This should be its own channel. Just Luke and Linus trading turns being cooperate lobbyist.
its a funny concept, MUST leave the wheel in frame so the arguments are harder to be taken out of context by some shady character/media..
I would watch an entire show about this xD
I very much enjoy people defending things they don't believe in lol. Very entertaining.
